A female United States age 30-35, *issxmexagainx writes:

Hi there. I'm a little over 5 months along and and I have a lot of questions. Even if you only answer a few, I'd really appreciate it.

1- my breasts are pretty large now, will they stay that way? or be bigger after I'm done breastfeeding? I used to be a 34C now I'm between sizes 34D and and 34DD.

2- does palmers really get rid of streach marks? because although I haven't gotten any yet on my tummy, I have them on my breasts and and they are really noticible when I wear low cut shirts.

3- what sex positions are easy during pregnancy? because almost everything I've tried ends up putting too much pressure on my uterus.

4- is it normal that I sometimes get a sharp pain in my left side during sex? it gets so bad that I have to stop and and it hurts for about 20 minutes after.

5- is it normal to get a thick white discharge during sex that looks almost like semen? this happened once about a week ago.

6- Why does my tummy sometimes cramp up and ret really hard? This happens alot and and when it does I don't feel any movement from the baby, and and he kicks constantly.

7- how important are prenatal vitamins? I haven't been all that great with taking them because I usually can't keep them down, even if I eat a lot before hand. but I eat a lot of foods that contain folic acid.

8- does listning to music in the womb really help the baby develop organizational skills?

9- Are their any cute AFFORDIBLE maturnity jeans that will actually fit? aside from my tummy I'm very skinny. and and short too..

10- I weigh 109 lbs. before I got pregnant I weighed around 96 lbs [which is underweight, I should normally weigh about 105-110 lbs, but I can't put on weight]. am I gaining enoug weight, or should I try to put on more?

11- My dr. told me that the sleeping pattern my baby has now will most likely be his sleeping pattern after he's born. unfortunately, the only time I don't feel any movement is from around 7 am to noon. then he kicks constantly, and and he's most active when I'm trying to sleep. is there a way for me to change his sleeping pattern?

12- are cloth diapers better than disposible diapers?

13- how long do woman normally breastfeed?

14- what exactally is an epidural?? could someone explain it to me in a less complicated way then doctors do? is it a drug?

that's all I can think of right now. I would really appriciate some help. I'm very excited but also nervous. thank you so much.

A female reader, MommyOfOne United States +, writes (25 March 2009):

MommyOfOne agony auntWow... I will try to answer all of your questions to the best of my ability...

1. I was a VERY small B cup when I got pregnant. Basically an A cup. 34 in band. When I was about 9 months pregnant I measured at nearly a D cup. After my daughter was born, they got a little bigger with the breast milk. But after breast feeding or once the milk is gone, some women go right back where they were before pregnancy or sometimes go *down* in cup size. I, personally, have stayed at a C cup. Just was one of my perks of motherhood. Every woman is different though.

2. No lotion known to man will get rid of stretch marks. But, I do believe in using these products. I used lotion multiple times a day on my tummy and loved to palmers tummy butter. I used it on my belly, from under my breasts, to my bikini line, and past my sides. I never got stretch marks. But you have to use it religiously. I never thought to put it on my hips, and sure enough, I got stretch marks only there... As for breast stretch marks, I have those too. Just comes from the sudden growth in your breast that comes with pregnancy.

3. Have you tried "doggy style", you on top, you on your side with him kneeling? Most positions are fine, but after a certain point, man on top sex just isn't possible...

4. That's something I would talk to your dr about. May be round ligament pain, which is just stretching of the uterus. But, I would run that one past your dr.

5. Yes. Hormones can change everything about your body. Including the consistency of your vaginal discharge.

6. Sounds like braxton hicks contractions. Some women, myself included, have these during most of their pregnancy. They are harmless. They are just your body "practicing" for the *real* labor that will soon come. The only time you should worry is if they are painful and you begin bleeding/spotting, or they begin to form a consistent pattern for more than an hour. As in, every 3-6 minutes for more than an hour.

7. They are very important. Some women just can not stomach them. But, you *can* try flinstone vitamins. Yes, the kids vitamins. They will do just fine.

8. That has not been proven.

9. I had problems with finding jeans that fit me. I ended up going to target and getting their jeans. That had sized 0-4 (pregnant 0-4, not regular 0-4). I wore a size 3-5 in juniors/misses when I got preggers, and the only jeans that fit where the target ones in the preggers size 2.

10. Do not TRY to put on crazy amounts of weight. To high of a weight gain, or to fast of a gain is actually worse for you *and* the baby. Just eat healthy meals, multiple times a day. Don't deprive yourself. If you are hungary, eat. If your not, don't. This is a time in your life when you really need to start listening to your body and its needs.

11. Baby's have NO sleeping pattern when they are born. And it will change multiple times before your child is 6 months old.

12. To each their own. Neither one is better than the other. Disposable ones are just easier to deal with. From what I have heard, cloth can cost you just as much as disposable ones. They MUST be cleaned properly, which can be costly.

13. Again, to each their own. Some moms breast feed for a short period of time, others for years. There is no wrong or right length to breast feed. Do what feels comfortable.

14. Its a pain reliever that is placed is the spine that numbs you from the breasts down. They are very safe, and its EXTREMELY rare that problems arise with having an epidural. Most women get a slight headache the next day, but that's about it...

A female reader, shnookims South Africa +, writes (25 March 2009):

shnookims agony auntHey

I can only answer a few of those questions from personal experience. Hope it helps.

1. Your boobs will probably get back to normal after you've finished breastfeeding. Be sure to wear a bra as much as possible otherwise they'll droop.

2. I tried every kind of cream for my stretchmarks regularly and I still got them pretty badly. They fade but never go away I think, unless you have like laser surgery.

3.I found doggy style quite comfortable but you can also try both lying on your sides with him coming from behind. You can put a pillow under your tummy to make it more comfortable. Woman on sitting on top worked for me. And also you can try lying on your back while your guy lys on his side and you ly perpendicular to each other.

4. I dunno about that pain... I think you should ask your doctor about it.

5. A little discharge is normal especially when you're pregnant. As long as it doesn't itch or smell funny.

6. It sound like you are getting braxton hicks (practice contractions). It's just your body preparing itself for the real thing. I had them constantly for 2 weeks before my baby was born.

7. I think pre natal vitamins are just about getting everything that the baby needs to him. I missed a few and my daughter never had any problems. But I think they are moderately important.

8. What harm could it do to try?

9. I just wore normal maternity clothes... Didn't look.

10. I lost weight until I was 8 months. Unless your doctor says there is something to worry about, there's nothing to worry about.

11. I never experienced that. My babies sleeping pattern changes all the time. My fault for not keeping to a routine. But if you make routine and stick to it, your baby can adjust to it.

12. I wanted to use cloth as I didn't think I would be able to afford disposable but the towelling ones are just so much more hassle. I've tried them once and never again.

13. They recommend 24 months but I drew the line at teeth and my baby hasn't been sick once other than teething. So I breastfed for 7 months. They say even 6 weeks makes a difference to your baby's health.

14. It's an injection into your spine. A local anesthetic that numbs the lower half of your body. That's what I understand of it. I never had one.

Yeah... Hope I could be of some help and good luck. I loved being pregnant and the whole birthing experience.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (25 March 2009):

I just had a child 6 months ago so I'll try.

1. No it usually oes down but I stopped breast feeding early so I went down pretty soon after.. It depends on when you stop breastfeeding. I didn't stop on purpose though, I just wasn't producing milk..

2. I used it and I'm proud to say I have not one stretch mark on my body..

3. Try being on top. Or kneeling down on the ground with him entering from behind.. Those were easiest for me.

4. Not to sure. Check the doctor.. Could be the baby is resting on that side so there's more pressure there.

5. Ask the doctor. Never happened to me.

6.Could just be he's tensing.

7. Very important. Try crackers before and after.

8.Yes.

9. I wore tracks.. Never found any maternity jeans. I found them all to big.

10. Your doc should be advising you on this.. I was 103 before pregnancy and got up to 140.. Most times the weight kicks in in the last few months..

11. hen you relax he will to.. And trust me they don't keep sleeping patterns for a long time. My son has changed his routine constantly since he was born so it's nothing to worry about now.

12. Some people think so but I don't. I find disposable easier and once you find one that agrees with the baby you should be fine.. In the first few months they change diapers like crazy.. Do you really want to was 8-10 dirty diapers a day??

13. Varies.. I only did it for three months because my milk dried up. Some women go on for years. All depend on you.

14. It's a pain killer that they inject into your spine that is slowly relaeased as your contraction gets stronger. I strongle suggest you read up on it because there are serious risks.

Good luck and Congratulations!!!

12.
