I asked some of my friends and they said none of them liked tampons, and I was wondering if I was like weird for liking them better.

I didn't mention TSS in so many words because I didn't want to make too big a deal about it - but I did say it's very important to change the tampon every 4 hours or when it's soaked, and not to leave bits of fluff inside yourself. That's why - because of TSS. You just need to be sensible about using tampons - they're so comfortable you can forget they're there - but don't!

She tells me that the TV adverts fail to advertise the fact that those sanitary pads that adhere to your underwear also adhere to your pubes and it can get quite painful when removing said underwear.
Whatever suits you best, babe!

You're not weird at all. Why do you think they sell so many tampons?! : ) You're luckier than your friends - if you don't have a problem with tampons, take advantage of that and use them.
They certainly do feel much less cumbersome and horrible than pads - you don't know they're there. Just be careful to change them regularly, because it's not a good idea to have a tampon in for ages - change every 4 hours or so. But don't pull them out too early, when they aren't soaked enough, or bits of cotton fluff get left inside you (they'll come out eventually, though).
I always wore tampons, but after I had a baby I suddenly found them really uncomfortable, because I got a bit damaged internally in the delivery, so now I have to use pads. I would say use tampons while you can!

To each his own, I say. I used pads first, then tampons and sometimes tampons and mini pads together! It is what you feel most comfortable with. The others don't matter.
You are NOT weird, just independent! And that is a good thing!

No you are not weird at all. I started using tampons when i was 16 and found them much better, no discomfort and you can go swimming. Tampons are actually more hygeinic than sanitary towels/pads as they are used internally. Just remember though to change them frequently, certainly every 6 hours or less if you are heavy. Toxic shock does happen and as long as you are aware of the importance of changing tampons regularly you will have no problems.

No, you're not weird. Both are fine as long as they're used properly. Don't leave tampons in too long, follow Annalisa's advice there. If they work for you, great, and don't allow yourself to be made to feel weird about using them, okay?
