All of our friends assume we are going out and for all the world we are, we spend hours lying around talking and although we have not had sex we have done other things. The problem lies in the fact that one day he will proclaim his undying love for me and the next he will act as if nothing has happened. He is not a player, he is just not very confident in terms of romance. I did and do feel that I am in love with him but he has emigrated for the year and without any promises I don't know if I should move on or wait for him?

I would consider moving on. Being in a long distance relationship is very difficult. Maybe one day you might be together again. It is torture to be without the one you love, a torture that if it can't be resolved in a short period of time can take it's toll on your physical and emotional health. In your mind, set yourself a time when you need to be together by, if you aren't together by that time, say goodbye for now. I don't normally take on board peoples pain, but I can feel yours for some reason. Maybe because I've been through it myself.
