I really don't know what this is, i've heard of 'spotting' when you're pregnant, i don't exactly know what this means but is there any chance is could be that? Or even an STI? I'm going for a pregnancy test tomorrow if you think theres a chance! Thanks

"spotting" can sometimes be a darker brown; the blood takes longer to come out and so it's not the usual bright red. And yes, you can "spot" when you're pregnant.
Don't delay. Take a test -- both for pregnancy and for all the STDs. Better safe than sorry. With any luck the doc will pat you on your head and send you away with only that lecture. But if you are pregnant and/or have an STD, you need to know soonest.
Good luck hon.

Ok I won't lecture about contraception :-)...whatever the outcome, remember how stressed you feel right now and prepare yourself before you have another sexual relationship. Anyway, back to your question. As a young woman it is not that unusual for your periods not to be regular or to have a light one now and again. Usually you don't get periods when you are pregnant but in rare cases it is possible and you can get vaginal bleeding while pregnant when there is a miscarriage or sometimes in a healthy pregnancy. Vaginal bleeding can also occur in a variety of sexually transmitted diseases and also due to disorders of the cervix and womb. Check that you are not pregnant using a reliable test from a chemist, or they give them away free at some family planning clinics (look in the yellow pages). If not, you could see your GP to have your hormones checked out (which sometimes affect periods).

Good Luck. Let me know how you get on.
