i know your probably going to think 'oh another typical teenage pregnancy' but i really need to speak to someone for a bit of advice.

me and my boyfriend have been together now for 11 and a half months, im seventeen although he is 25, my mum doesnt aggree with me going out with him which is why we tend to keep our relationship to ourselves. well i do love him and he treats me like some sort of royalty, he's the best thing that has ever happened to me, and well my question; he took my virginity in january, we'd only been together for about 14 weeks but i fell for him seriously! and he made it the most amazing experience ever! we've been sexually active now for about 8 months months and we've always been careful, ive been on the pill since last year. most of the time we do use condoms too! *my mum thought i was the biggest tart going when i was younger, i always hung around with guys sightly older than me and she hated it, and didnt belive that i wasnt sleeping around, so she put me on the pill! so ive always been regular with my periods..etc..* i get my period on the 17th of every month and last 3 days. but last month i never came on. and now im still waiting for it, my boyfriend mentioned to me a few days back to me which didnt click at first, i had a water infection and was given antibiotics to take near the end of august, which ive heard stops your pill working? so yesterday i bought a pregnancy test and did it last night, it was negative!! so we are kind of baffled as to why ive not yet had my period! im not pregnant? and i cant think of any other reason why its not here! although now it is kind of stresing me out, and its caused a few arguements today between us two an its only 20 past 1!! please can anyone offer me any advice? :/

Lola1 agony auntThere are always other reasons for periods not to stick a schedule. Stress can be a factor. You can always try a second pregnancy test to be sure. While I am sure they are all relatively accurate, mistakes can happen and if you get two negatives, you know you're in the clear.

Continue using condoms until you've spoken to your doctor about what possible effects other medications can have on your birth control pill.

Having said that, doctors usually know what medications you are on and ask (just in case) before perscribing another, to avoid conflicts.

While you are speaking with your doctor, ask about your late period.

Here is a tip I usually find helpful in my life. I never stress about something until I know for a fact its an issue. Imagine how stupid you will feel haven wastes all that energy and having so many arguments if you end up NOT being pregnant. ;-)

Good luck.

LilPixie agony auntYes, antibiotics stop the pill from working properly! And although pregnancy tests are very reliable, they are not always 100% accurate. I would take another test, just to make sure.. If you're still unsure talk to your doctor.

And by the way, stress can cause periods to be late too...

Hi

I suggest that you go to a gynecologist immediately. And, at your age, a little irregularity in periods is actually not that uncommon. But, get best if you get an expert opinion, ok!! And take the antibiotic that you've been on too, so she/he can verify whether it does stop the pill from being effective!! And, yeah, sometimes stressing about not having any periods also causes delays... so... Really, until you don't get an expert opinion, you'll only worry.. which is NOT helping. Hope you aren't pregnant!!! So, smile, breathe easy and consult a gyne!!

LOVE
