 If it shows that it is from your number well then it must have been sent. Did you leave your phone unattended at any minute at all? Could someone else have sent it from your phone. If you had your phone the whole day and you know that it really wasn't sent well then maybe you should be looking at it from a different angle. Maybe your girlfriend made this story up because she is away and she is guilty of cheating. She may have made a mistake and feels bad about it now but she doesn't want to admit the truth so she is taking the blame out on you.
