She's for real. It hurts badly. I used to have that same problem, and I would have to take pain pills, valium, and use cream to be able to endure sex with my husband. It was awful, and it's awful for your gf. She def needs to get it totally cured, and please be understanding and patient with her.

Sounds like maybe you haven't yet? Get to the doctor. Over-the-counter meds for a self-diagnosed infection may be completely missing the mark. For her, it's important that she NOT douche or have sexual intercourse or use a tampon 24-48 hours before her appointment. So yeah, this infection could very well be 'for real.'

Most women have the fungus naturally in their system from time to time, it just never develops into a full blown yeast infection. I'm no doctor, but if it's a reoccurring it may have something to do with her immune system (stress or an autoimmune disorder). Some women complain they get them when they are on antibiotics.
In my experience I only got them if I was wet for long periods of time: swimming practice, swimming at the beach, taking a lot of baths, OR too much sex. Maybe cut her some slack?

Mycosis fungoides usually develops and progresses slowly. It often begins as an unexplained rash that can wax and wane for years.
Has she had a biopsy of her skin? Or a blood test? Mycosis can be rather serious.
