I am not sure if this is normal...so I will ask? I got my period yesterday(not for the first time, had it lots of times) and it has been really heavy, since yesterday around 3 pm and now I have gone through like 6 pairs of underwear. Also I have been going through tampons like crazy(every hour I have to change them) I have had more than a few blood clots and I had to wake up at 6 in the morning today because I leaked so bad. I get up from sitting down and feel as if I am leaking already even though I just put a tampon in like 20 min ago. Is this at all normal? And if not does anyone have hints on what this might be?

Are you sexually active, and have had unprotected sex? If your period is/has never normally been like that, it can be a sign of miscarriage, especially if you've been getting large blot clots and/or extremely bad pains in that area. If you're not, or don't think you could be, then it may just be one of those things, but, I had a friend who miscarried and she hadn't even realised she was pregnant until it was all over.

No this doesn't sound normal. I wouldn't even like to hazard a guess as to what's causing you to bleed so heavily as it could be so many things.

Get to a doctor as soon as you can. Having to change tampons every hour is excessive. Even if it is just a very heavy period, you can still become anaemic.

I had a friend who was going through the exact same thing as you she got herself an appointment with a nurse not a gyno i cant remember what kind of nurse she was but anywho it turned out that her iron was super low and she had to start takeing suppliments and she got a lot better.

Also it turned out that she was really close to bieng diabetic it may or may not have been related. So check your self for other symptomes, pull back your bottem eyelid if it is pink your healthy if its pale whiteish or kinda gray that is a great indication of low iron also check your nails if you have any symptoms i reccomend seeing your docter asap hope this has helped.
