I think its temporary and will get better. Stress,bereavement or anything nagging the brain is usually the cause.

If he's the same age as you (36-40), it could be a sign of stress of middle age. It's nobody;'s fault, and needs to be handled with care or it will get worse. Help him relax and make sure he's all okay with his work and such. This can be fixed if no one blames anyone and you're both relaxed.

If it is the latter, he is dealing with stress/performance issues, and your questions and nuisances with it will certainly not help him. If it is the former, that is he never gets hard, not even in his sleep, then he needs to have his blood pressure, testosterone and other things checked by a professional.
