The legal age for sex on MOST states is 16 so you should be safe since you are 17. This law may differ from state to state. YOu have to be missing for 48 hours for the police to do anything.

By the time you are 28 you will probably look back on this and realize that you were an idiot and this guy was a creep just using you for easy sex.

But in the meantime you'll blame your parents for spoiling your fun.

Just chill, you were only doing what came naturally. It's not a crime. They may get a bit bothered that their little girl is a woman but they'll get used to the idea.

Hope you enjoyed yourself. Make sure you don't get interrupted next time. Go home and stay cool. If there is any shouting let them do it, you just stay calm and be mature and cool headed. You've got nothing to feel ashamed about.

Collaroy agony auntIs 17 underage in Canada?

If it is, your boyfriend is in a whole heap of trouble.

If not, ( 16 is the legal age in Australia ) then you might be best waiting for them to calm down . I'm sure your neighbour has already copped it from them.

They'll get over it, but it won't be easy I'll admit. You lied to your parents and they caught you out. It was sneaky of your mother and bad that you couldnt be honest with her. The relationship is a two way thing, very shortly you will be 18 and allowed to do whatever you want, your parents should understand this, if they don't want to drive you away perhaps some new boundaries need to be sorted out between you and your parents.

A reader, anonymous, writes (4 September 2009):

Hiding isn't going to solve the problem. You might try phoning home to see if your parents have calmed down enough to have a rational conversation. Or arrange to meet them somewhere neutral, like a coffee shop, where they're less likely to completely fly off the handle.

They're disappointed, you're underage and living under their roof. You've lied to them and (presumably) violated the house rules. That's where they'll be coming from.

I presume you went with the neighbour because you wanted to, not because of any pressure. OK, so your parents now know in an emphatic way that you're a sexual being. You're going to have to negotiate how they deal with that, but deal with it they must -- it's simply a fact of life. It can be a tough one for parents to swallow, which is something for you to keep in mind.

Unless there's a cultural twist to your situation, your parents will come to terms with this. It'll be difficult and awkward for a while, but in the end they'll understand that their little girl had to grow up eventually. They still love you, even through their momentary anger and disappointment.

Good luck.
