writes: Sorry my question doesn't have much if anything to do with relationships, but thanks for reading. I've been feeling really frustrated. Right now I am just starting college, but it's not what I want. I have wanted to join the military since I was 15 years old. However, I am allergic to eggs, and this is medically disqualifying. A lot of people tell me to just go ahead and try anyway. My husband is in the military right now (I'm 19, he's 20), and I am extremely jealous. He only joined because he had nothing better to do, but it is something I really want. I'm smart and athletic and I know I would excel. I am so frustrated I could pull all my hair out! What should I do? Should I try to go ahead and join the military despite my limitations? Or should I just accept what's what and move on? Please help!

When you're at chow you have to eat what they eat; they can't (and won't) make stuff that caters to one person. An egg allergy can be very serious. Don't "join anyway" -- you'd have to lie on the application, and if you ate something with eggs in it you could die before you ever got deployed.

Why not? You obviously want to go for the armed forces. I would find it very strange if they didn't take you on just because you have an egg allergy. Does this extend to dairy products? It would be good to get a medical note from your doctor explaining the extent of the allergy and how it affects you. However, the different armed forces all have their own different types of admission protocol. What one force doesn't allow, another will. For instance, have you considered the navy or air force?
You will never know unless you go for it so try your best. At least then you'll know.:-)

If they discount you to an allergy to egg thats very odd. I would say try out for it anyways. They may already cater for this kind of allergy and if you believe they will already discount you, what is there to lose? The military also pays for your education so it would be a good step if you want less debt in the future. College can be expensive without any help.
