Slim to none because the gene thing skips a generation. So your grand children will have a greater possiblity of being twins. You dodged that bullet.

You have slightly more chances of carrying twins, have an ultrasound to check if you're unsure.

I have been told, by un-qualified individuals that every other generation will be the more likely to have twins. So, your husbands daughter would have an increased chance to have twins. My Dad is a twin and my Dads older siblings are twins. All the babies were in the 7 lb range. 15 mos. apart, Gramma must have been a busy lady.

With my first pregnancy I was very hopeful of twins because my mid wife suspected it and Grammas history. 3 pregnancies, no twins.

Bev Conolly agony auntCongratulations on the pregnancy!

This is the sort of question you'll want to ask your ob-gyn, of course, and you should be seeing him or her soon, right?

However, just from my reading, you have a slightly better than average chance of fraternal twins if your husband is a fraternal (not identical) twin. You also have an increased chance of multiple babies if you're older when you first become pregnant. It also appears that if you're African-American, you will have a higher chance of twins (Native Americans and Asians have the lowest frequency of twins.)

Multiple pregnancies can be a blessing to some couples, but they can also come with some risk to the babies and to you, so if you suspect twins, do be sure to take care of your health and do as your ob-gyn suggests.

Good luck!
