I am really worried about my husband. Last night after work he told me that through the grapevine he heard that his new manager has it in for him and wants him fired. She sits around most of the time and has only warmed up to one other female member of staff. I am now really stressed about what is going to happen if he loses his job as I dont make much at all with my job and the cost of child care will kill us. Has anyone else had this problem where the main bread winner has lost his/her job and the family has been left with nothing? Jobs are not going at the moment as he has been looking and nothing is avaliable!!

eyeswideopen agony auntLet all your friends know that he's looking for a new position, watch the papers, go online, Make sure his resume is updated and circulate it with any applications. I firmly believe that when God closes a door He opens another. Best of luck, I'm sure things will all work out.

jack23 agony auntIf he is reliable at his job and continues to work efficiantly then there is no reason that they can fire him if he does nothing wrong.

If the company needs to get rid of him due to any reasons for needing to cut down then they will have to give him redundency payment, which should help until he can secure more work. Additionally if he is made reduntant they can not employee anyone else to take his job unless they have offered him his job back and he has refused.

These factors can be worth bearing in mind, and I would would suggest reading a book on law concerning any unfair treatment he may receive whilst employeed there.

(the above applies to the english law)
