In anyone's experience, does this usually cover most things needed including possessions (eg. passport) and travel? or do people usually get separate cover as well (if so, yo what extent?) many thanks Reply to this Question Share |

You need to speak to the insurance provider. There are far too many different type of insurance for anyone to know what she's covered for.

You don't even know what KIND of insurance! Medical, trip cancellation, or what ever! She needs to grow up, look into this and see what she has, and what is available and what she needs.
There is no insurance that's going to cover a passport... sorry, there's no "value" to this vital document, if you loss it you'll have to take several days, travel to an embassy or consulate and get a replacement- it's a HUGE PAIN, so DON'T LOOSE IT!
She's going to China, so medical insurance could be interesting. if she gets sick, where will she go? To a state hospital with 1890's technology and medications? If she needs serious medical attention, can she buy medical insurance that will cover the cost to fly her out on a medical plane to a more developed country? (This costs a fortune BTW). As for her stuff, serious life lesson here, if it's too important not to loose, LEAVE IT HOME! No jewelry, no good watches ($10 plastic watch!), forget the $1,000 camera, go with a $200 digital... consider everything disposable.
Trip insurance covers the cost of the trip if it was non-refundable, and she got sick or for some other reason couldn't go.
Get more info, and then (like the other person wrote) don't ask people here this, go see her insurance agent!
