My friend threw a tantrum and I am still reeling from it!

Question - (6 December 2009) 3 Answers - (Newest, 7 December 2009)
A age 41-50, anonymous writes:

Tonight I went out with my friends, "Jane" and "Mary." I live the farthest and was coming in to pick them up. Originally, I told Mary I would pick her up first and then we would get Jane. While driving, I realized I would be going back and forth, so I ended up picking Jane up first and then getting Mary. We were still on time, but when we got Mary, she was MAD! When she came to the car, I said, "Change of plans" and she said, "No kidding! It would have been nice to have known about this!" I tried to explain that instead of driving back and forth, it was easier to pick everyone up in order according to distance. (Jane is the half-way point and Mary is the furthest.) And what was suppose to be a "fun" evening, turned awkward. Eventually by the end of the night, Mary apologized for her attitude. I was still just so stunned that something so minor seemed so upsetting to her. She wasn't haven't a bad day and we weren't late, it just seemed like her outburst came from out of nowhere. Was this my fault for not letting her know about the "order" of who was being picked up? I'm just so confused right now.

You're the driver. Don't take crap from passengers, because it can get you angry, and then you might be in an accident if you're thinking about what your passenger has said, and not focusing on the road. If they don't like how you drive, or your plan, then they can walk. Be tough.
