Then in second year, he was really nasty to me slating my work in class and not replying when I emailed him questions to do with parts of the module that I didn't understand. I then took a gap year and every time I saw him he'd insist on hugging me, has offered me lifts, has a laugh with me and smiles at me a lot. My mate reckons he's got a soft spot for me... Help!!! I'm so confused!!

DMJ83 is verified as being by the original poster of the questionthis doesn't really answer the question.. i mean, affection is something you have for your old granny or your pet dog - what's the difference between a crush and affection??.. all I really want to know is whether or not he's attracted to me??.. i don't want to say something to him and have got it wrong!!

This sounds like you got a crush on your tutor. He was nice to you at first, because he didn't know about it.When your attitude to him became more evident, he changed. After you took a gap year (as time passed) crush transformed into affection.Looks like this affection is mutual, though I can't tell you if it's gonna be long lasting.
