She is dieting and all she will eat in one day is , lettuce with vinegar and lemon juice, a small amount of grated cheese and either a peice of ham or tiny bit of chicken. Every third or 4th day she will have one egg and one bit of bread. She is in her 40s, and has a history of bulimia when she was much younger, (she doesnt have it now, and hasnt had it for years) but she wont eat anything!! and she wont ever reward herself with carbs or a treat, she thinks she needs to loose 8kg and drinks one to two bottles of white wine in the evening, to destress - 5-6 days a week, yes she knows she drinks too much but she wont stop, she wont go to AA or anything, its not up to me to stop her.She is about to open a small part time dance school next week, with a bus. partner. Even though alcohol has calories, because she eats hardly anything she looses weight. Im afraid that once she reaches her goal weight, she she wont eat anything, i have tried to talk to her and told her that she looks great no matter what and maybe she should try eat a bit more, or at least have some carbs, but have given up now,she wont listen. She looks great, she is attractive and most ppl, women and men, comment on that, (noone has ever said she was fat,) but she is just so pleased that everyone says how much weight she has lost - she doesnt need to lose anymore but wants to. Will she keep losing weight? - even though the wine has calories? She likes it that shes lost weight and esp that her often critical elderly mother has noticed. Will the wine make her lose more wieght?Plse dont be mean, I need advice, thanks in advance Reply to this Question Share |

Don't worry, I won't be mean.
You're a great friend to care, but you mustn't take all this on yourself. Your friend is going to become incedibly ill if she doesn't eat and just drinks wine. She's going to have liver problems, blood problems, an addiction problem. The calories in the wine won't be enough to give her any real energy and this could lead to heart problems, kidney problems adn just about any other problem that can come from poor dieting. But, the only person that will be able to stop this before it gets bad is her. By all means be there for her, but don't pressure her because she'll ignore it even more. Be there, give her support. There's nothing more you can do.
