 Do you both know that you like the same boy? Its just one one of those situations where either you or her may end up with him or neither of you be with him and the two of you remain friends, surely you cherish your friendship more than this boy, boys come and go but friends are so easy to come by. There will be loads of boys in school and you have loads of time to meet one, maybe you could both be friends with him but if both of you like him and one starts seeing him, see how that will affect your friendship, it is likely to cause problems.  i think that you should tell your friend you like him before you tell anyone else because she may take it the wrong way if she hears it from any one else. This also depends on how long she has liked him for because if it was long i think you shouldnt get involed with him. this happened between me and my friend and i went out with this boy that she liked for ages and we didnt talk for at least a month. i think that you shouldnt let boys come between you.  Ok...This is very fragile as both of you like him. Tell your friend you like him...And see what she says. If she gets upset tell her that she should be glad you told her. And remember... FRENDSHIP IS MORE IMPORTANT THEN GUYS!!
