What you are going through is the begining of a normal full female orgasm.
My wife has explained to me how it feels. By comparison men's orgasm is nowhere near to women's orgasm.
According to her, when she gets orgasm (almost everytime we have sex, normal and oral) it feels exactly the way you describe it, pins and needles.
It starts in the pelvic area, to her head, then, finally to her whole body. To the point that she feels the "pins and needle" feeling throughout her whole body, all the way to her finger tips.
I notice that when she is climaxing she does get goosebumps all over her body and her skin gets flushed. I think it is beautiful! Like a Champagne Super-Nova!
There is nothing wrong with you. But, if you feel more confortable, make an appointment with a Female GYN doctor. She'll explain it.
Hope you don't mind what I am saying, thanks for reading.

I really don't think the sciatic nerve would give you facial numbing!
I agree with RCN it's more likely that you are hyperventilating. Speak to your doctor it could be something nasty!

I'd recommend a doctor's visit. This may be nothing, but you won't know until you get a checkup. That feeling, from what I understand, is cause by lack of blood flow, or oxygen. Schedule an appointment so you can know for sure.
