Okay this is really embarrassing but I have a sex problem. I've been going out with my man for close to four years and the sex is good, when we do have it. I want to please him and stuff, I love to give oral sex and have been told I'm very very good at it, thing is, god this is so embarrassing, my boyfriend's penis is really big, it's perfect, but it smells. No matter how much he washes it and cleans it and everything, it never tastes good and his cum tastes awful. I've said it to him and he was okay, he's not offended, but there's nothing he can do. Somehow it always seems to taste bad. Anybody been through this? I cringe whenever he takes it out because the odour is so strong. Even after washing it thoroughly in the shower! Is there any medical reason why it smells so much, is there a pill or something he can take, or is there just nothing we can do about it. Please please please help!

if his penis smells its bad hygene. if u r worried about the taste then you've got another problem. if he pisses before sex it may be the urine residue in his shaft mixed with the semen. worth checking

Hey,

i have the same issue

my bf and i have been together now for two years and our sex life is great. i can tell you that it wont be a problem if he goes to see a doctor

you should tell him to go and see a doctor and if he gets offended tell him its not just his problem

im sure your good at giving oral sex and you would like to give him pleasure so this is the only answer i think that will help your relationship

i would like to say also to the person that dumped her bf over the issue that you are cruel and u obviously didnt care much about how he feels

it wasnt just you in the relationship

I have uncircumcised and I had same problem. Eventually I went with doctor and it turned to fungal infection. He gave me one pill and powder which is supposed to be applied 2-3 times a day for 10 days. I applied 2 times for almost 18-20 days after pill. I am fine now.

Thanks,

A male reader, elnino3 United Kingdom +, writes (13 April 2009):

First of all I must reply to the anonymous post on the 25th of March. You cannot transmit BV or thrush through sexual contact. These infections are caused by imbalances/over multiplication of the naturally occurring bacteria in your vagina. Sex can often complicate things due to the fact that the vagina cleans itself by producing mucous. After any sex but especially non-protected sex the vagina produces more mucous.

I suspect what the anonymous reader is experiencing is problems with this natural balance which causes an infection (many women suffer from this), but is made worse by having sex. She has linked this to her boyfriends penis due to the similar smell the vagina has during these infections in comparison to a normal penis.

Anyway, responding to the problem of the smelly penis, it is apparently a common problem. First thing to rule out is an infection or other problem, so get him to go to the doctors if he cars about you (or having oral sex given to him) then he will surely comply.

If there is no infection then it may be that he needs to change his cleaning routine. The basics are to try taking baths instead of showers, while in the bath retract the foreskin under the water and wipe with a cloth. Wash with soap after doing this and then soak it with the foreskin retracted for around 10 mins.

However, as you have said that washing does not help then advice maybe to stray away from the usual advice and to wash before sex with more scented soaps or creams. Then after sex wash normally as scented soaps can make the problem worse if left for a couple of hours.

Another possible explanation is that you may just not like the smell of a normal penis which is perfectly ok. In this case unfortunately aside from smearing olbas oil under your nose before you perform oral sex there is not a lot more you can ask.

I have had the same problem with my boyfriend who I have also been seeing for 4 years. I have decided my only choice is to end the relationship because not only does his penis smell but he has infected me with bv and thrush several times and I have even had to undergo removal of precancerous cells since I started sleeping with him. I KNOW that he has caused these infections because the smell is the same when I am infected but his penis and semen smell like that all the time. I cannot find a doctor or a website that agrees with me though. Don't go through what I'm going through. Either only have sex using a condom or ditch your boyfriend before your health suffers!!!

Does he smoke, or drink, or eat non-healthy? All of these can cause cum to taste terrible and or smell horrible! Ask him to try to cut back on these habits and eat more pineapple it causes it to be sweeter. It worked wonders for my husband!

A female reader, ellababesx United Kingdom +, writes (31 January 2009):

ellababesx agony auntYou say it is really strong, which it probably is, but is this the first man for you to give oral? If so, then not all woman like the smell and taste of a mans penis.

Can you smell it too?

I suggest you just see a docter that should hopefully find the reason for this, but in the meanwhile, I suggest flavoured condoms and scented soaps for 'that' area before sex.

Good luck!

A female reader, shna Ireland +, writes (31 January 2009):

shna agony auntWas he your first boyfriend or the only guy you have gave oral to maybe it could be that you just don't like the taste, anyway I know I dont... I know I've never come across any of my boys having a smell.

Maybe it could be because he washes his penis with soap because isn't it the case if a girl washes her vagina with soap an odour appears... maybe it could have the same effect on a guy...??

TornHeart agony auntOkay, I felt for you when I read this. So I did a little research and it seems there is a cream that eliminates/kills male genital odor. The website for it is www.nodoro.com and it's an over the counter thing. I hope that helps!
