A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

My boyfriend's parents hate me.

I don't know what I did wrong. I ws staying with them for seven weeks in France (where they are from) after we accomodated my boyfriend for two months while he did a work placement here in London. During that stay they made fun of me when I was upset because a cat I had since I was five had to be put to sleep while I was there. They bitched about everything I did. His sister sent him a text message for no reason other that to tell him that she thought I dance like a slut (when I don't btw). And the icing on the cake...his mother threatened to make him cut me out of his life just because she was angry at him.

All this has made me so paranoid that they'll make our relationship almost impossible to maintaine. We are so far away physically so I can't reach him if they prevent me. I tried to follow all of their rules and be friendly but I have no idea what I did wrong.

His parents keep trying to take more and more. They yell at him too all the time and call him a failure. They yell at him constantly and say mean things. They now want him to return to their home (he lives in a dorm) alot more often than normal and I am getting scared that it'll increace more and more. I am finding it difficult to cope already and I just don't know what to do! I have been with him for over a year and we love eachother...I just have depression problems and I am scared.

My boyfriend's parents hate me too, girl. Don't be scared. If your boyfriend can't stand up for you, then yes, you should rethink your relationship. Dealing with it is tough, especially when the MOTHER hates you. But you can't let them get to you. You love your boyfriend, not them. And one day (if you feel your relationship will grow to this) when you have their grandkids, they will have to give you respect, unless of course they are so fucked up that they won't like the kids either. Either way, keep your head up strong. This should only bring you and your man closer together. If not, he is weak, and he is not the one. My boyfriend and I are like glue now because of it.

sexi agony auntHi

If you and your bf love each other then nothing should stand in your way.Is it not possible for her yourll to move in together. Speak to your bf and tell him what you think his parents are up to and try to find out how stable he is in this relationship. You have to be sure that he is willing and committed enough as you.Yourll can get through this but only if yourll stand together. Speak to your bf and make sure he is prepared to stand with you.

Good Luck, mail me if you wanna talk

L.O.S.E.R. agony auntAll you wrote shows me they are just pathetic retards.I hope your bf realizes that.If he's the right one he should (no,if he's sane he should).Try not to waste any second of your time thinking about them anymore cause they don't deserve it-what can you expect from people who call their child a failure.I think it won't make any difference between you two cause he must know what's best for him so far.Just ignore it.

Talk to your boyfriend and tell him how you are feeling. Ask him to have a word with his family and to tell them that he loves you and that they will not succeed in keeping you apart and that he will not accept the way they treat you. If he refuses to do this then maybe you need to rethink your relationship.

Good luck xx
