But the door closed and locked? By what stretch of the imagination does a man have a woman alone, on a bed with him, behind closed and locked doors? Were the curtains drawn as well?

 Yep, I agree with Jmtmj.
There's no reason that he should be lying on a bed with another girl once he was in a relationship, let alone lock the door.
I would feel insulted if my bd told me that, thinking I'd be so stupid as to believe him.
