There are many factors that may have caused him from just leaving. Guys at your age are still trying to develop socializing skills. Looking at you with your friends is a very intimidating thing for him as he doesn't think he will act correctly around the girls so they won't think he is a "loser" and make you dump him.
If he was with his friends, he was probably showing off to them that he's still a dependent man and you won't come after you every time you call.
If there was someone around that he didn't like, well he didn't want to aproach this person.
Don't really worry about this. He just exposed a very normal behavior for kids your age, but if you feel something is wrong you should try to talk to your boyfriend about it. Try to be honest and sincere. Don't nag or bitch at him because he will just get mad; try to talk calmly and sound like you trust him. It's good that a relationship has a good communication, and you can start building it now.

I wouldn't worry about it really... Most guys your age (assuming 13-15) aren't incredibly comfortable with themselves and haven't developed the best ways of expressing or socializing... lol. If it seemed really out of the ordinary for him.. I might give a call tonight casually.. and after a few minutes ask if anything has been bothering him... you also have to consider that he could of been having an off day or off moment. & that this doesn't necessarily mean it has anything to do with you. Maybe his dog died... or his mom got in a fight with him... or he was just feeling a bit glum...
