Most of the time he is really sweet and would probably do anything for me but recently he's been acting really off with me and has been quite nasty. Can this relationship work because of the age difference or is he trying to tell me something? I'm heartbroken!!

If you keep telling yourself that the relationship wont work then the negitive attitude you have will start to show thow and he'll start to feel it to. He maybe being grumpy for many reasons maybe somethings happening at home or at school that he is upset or ashamed bout. I know that cause me to be off with my b/f!!
Ask him if theres anything he wants to tell you and make it clear that you are there for him all the way!!
Good luck!!

I think it sounds like this boy is merely going through the teenage years.
All teenagers can become grumpy for no apparent reason.
Girls mature quicker than boys too, so, you are much older than this boy in the mind.

Talk to him about it, I speak from experience, he probably doesn't even realize he's doing it, and if he truly cares about you he will make himself stop, but trust me... talk.
