Question - (21 October 2007) 3 Answers - (Newest, 21 October 2007)
A female Canada age 41-50, *eslie_L writes:

I had found out that i was Pregnant on the 4th of October. I took a few home pregnancy tests. My last missed period at this time was on Aug. 22nd. On Sept 22, I had one day of bleeding. Since around the 22nd, I started getting bad cramping which is common in early pregnancy as i've already had 2 children.

Then on october 12th, I started to bleed. I went up the the hospital to find out what was going on..they gave me a blood test and told me that I was no longer pregnant. The blood was very different..watery, red, brown, black as well as chunks but not big chunks. I am still getting back cramps and still feeling very pregnant...which is also followed by very slimy, white discharge that looks like a mucous plug but i've been getting it quite often in the past month. I have never experience a miscarriage before so i don't know what to expect. I don't understand why i've been getting the constant cramping along with this discharge. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks,

Leslie

DrPsych agony auntI had a miscarriage at Christmas so you have my sympathy. You maybe not pregnant anymore but it does take time for the hormones to slide back down to normal range so that may explain why you still feel pregnant. Any irregular discharge needs to be checked out as some of the products of conception maybe retained in the uterus. A doctor can offer a D&C which will clear anything and stop your symptoms if that is the cause.

Lila agony auntYou need a full exam, and probably a D&C.It sounds like you haven't fully expelled all the "tissue".Please make an app.with your OBGYN.

rcn agony auntI'd go back to the doctor and see what's going on. I was with someone who experienced a miscarriage, she didn't have recurring problems as you're describing.
