A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

To all married men out there, when did you realize that your wife was the one you wanted to marry? How long had you been seeing her before you guys got married and what kind of circumstance was it? Like were you friends first, were you high school sweethearts, were you casually dating for a while, etc?

A male reader, CaringGuy United Kingdom +, writes (16 October 2009):

I'm not married, but I can tell you for sure that there is no straight answer to this. It really depends on the guy. Some get married to high school sweethearts, some get married after a year, some after ten years. It depends on the guy. If you're worried, calmly sit you boyfriend down and ask him where he sees your relationship going (nice and gentle and not to direct). If you're too direct, or he thinks yoo're pushing him, he'll shy away from it.
