Can a guy climax 3 times in an hour or so? Yes - I have done it - but probably not since I was in my mid 20's. As others said, the first climax will probably be the most intense.
In the article called "Come Again" in the classic book "The Joy of Sex", the authors say some guys are capable of six(!) orgasms in a single session of a couple hours or so. It helps if they are young, and have abstained for a day or so beforehand, and don't expect to do it every time they make love, and have practiced a little. (You try to hold back a little, not letting yourself empty completely on the first ejaculation.) As with multiple orgasms in women, your partner needs to reduce the intensity of stimulation right after orgasm, and read your response as you work toward the next one.

Some guys have a higher sex drive than others so it's no problem to come 3 times or even 4 (in my case) in an hour, ideally taking a few minutes break each time for the feeling to return. This was certainly the case for me when I was involved in an illicit affair 3 years ago and we had a time limit. Obviously, a lot depends upon the sexiness of the woman and I don't mean just looks alone. Speaking personally, I don't think I could keep this up(!) every day of the week. I have personally found that people with comparatively low sex drives just disbelieve it and are dismissive when they hear about this sort of thing.
So there is your factual answer!

As far as I know, men can't experience multiple orgasms. After the first time, as you say - they go soft and need a break. Within half an hour, they can go again but not as much cum is released - far less I think.
Maybe your friend is exaggerating slightly, in hope to make you think she is that amazing in bed!
