Why were my bf's lips looking slightly puffy?

i wanted to ask since i noticed my bf's lips like that when he came back from work.

it wasn't thin and normal like its usually.that day it looked that his upper lip was slightly bee stung.

i have noticed it twice.

YouWish agony auntOh geeze, there could be a zillion benign things that caused his lip to swell.

I'll list them:

Hot coffee

change in temperature

change in humidity

Change in air pressure

Medication (even over the counter medication)

food that burned his mouth when he ate it

resting his hand on his mouth while thinking

gum infection or irritation

eating spicy hot wings

lack of sleep

That's just scraping the surface. Trust me, if he was sucking the face off of another girl at work, BOTH lips would be swollen and his hair would be touselled and you might "smell" someone on him.

If you see this a lot with other factors, just keep your eyes open. But there's just way too many other things it could be.

I wonder of he has an allergy to something? Or maybe he was hot? I'm not really sure what else it could be.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (15 October 2011):

what job does he do?

it could be something to do with his job. my ex husband was a carpenter and would 'hold' nails and screws in his mouth while he was up ladders etc.

if his job has no explanation of any irritants or him using his mouth in a way that it wasnt meant to be used then maybe it was drinks being too hot or too cold? or drinking out of a bottle, bighting his lip subconsciously?

you could also experiment with kissing with him deeply and anything else you might think he's doing with someone else and see if it happens again, but perhaps you should ask him how his lips came to be like this and see what his reaction is!

I hope theres a simple explanantion for you, good luck!
