Turn off from what? You're not sleeping when you get intimate, so it's not a sexual turn off, no. Snoring has nothing to do with sexiness. But it's annoying, yes. Because the other person doesn't get his sleep!
It depends though on how loud your snoring is (and if your grandma complained I guess it is loud) and on how soundly the other person sleeps. If they are a light sleeper like me they wake up at anything, any small sound, and every snore will wake them up. And that is when it becomes as issue. However I've been with men who could sleep through a bomb attack. So that totally depends.
The solution is to either sleep in separate rooms, or that the one person sleeps with earmuffs/earplugs on. I've had to do it when in bed with a snorer, instead of always having to wake them up I sleep with earplugs on. The things you wont do for love, eh?
Are you a long way away from graduation, or is it soon? When the time comes around for you and him to start seriously planning to move in (when you are looking for apartments etc) then tell him you snore. You'll work out a solution.

There are definitely ways around it. You can start with nose strips to see if that helps at all. My step-dad snored so loudly the house shook (seriously). They make these weird little steam machine things you can wear that stop snoring, especially if it's caused by sleep apnea. If common drug-store cures don't work, you can see a doctor to see what they recommend. And it's always a good plan to get your boyfriend a present for sharing a bed with a snorer: some GOOD earplugs.
