Hmm...Well i know how you feel. not as much, but kinda. Me and my friend muck around and stuff but have agreed we will make out for the fun of it once we have both kissed a guy.
I'm no expert on whether it is a good idea for you to be with her intimately ( as like i said I've never even kissed anyone properly) but what i would really ask is "Will it be awkward afterwards?" as you're best friends so i would think you wouldn't want to ruin that. If you don't think it will be and want to still, I would say go for it.
