I just took a pregnancy test because I'm over a week late for my period, the test was negative... Should i take another one? If yes how long should I wait? And what should I do? I'm normally not this late!

LilPixie agony auntI went to see my doctor this morning and she said it's probably the pill that is causing this because the one I am on can cause periods to stop all together, which she didn't tell me when she first put me on it. She didn't even thing a test is needed.

I'm still a little worried though as I've been feeling sick a lot lately, but I guess that can be from the pill too...

Thanks again for answering everyone xx

If you're still on the pill and have been taking it properly the chances of you being pregnant are quite slim but still possible so do take that other test.

Discuss it with your doctor when you see him and get him to weigh you as weight loss (and excessive exercise) can cause periods to become scanty or stop.

LilPixie agony auntThanks guys...

I haven't been stressed at all lately, and I only figured out about 2 days ago that I should have had my period last week...

I've been on the pill since April, and even when i first started i was always on time! But my doctor has changed my pill twice so far because it was causing some problems... Maybe that could be a reason? But i've been on my current pill for almost 3 months...

I have to go back to the doctors soon anyway to get a new pack of pills, so I'll ask then what i should do (i'll do another test in a few days).

I do performing arts (drama and dance) at college (high school) and i also do cheerleading so i get quite a lot of exercise.

Plexi agony auntStress can cause you to miss a period as well as very very low body fat percentage. It sounds to me like you are really stressing over it, try to relax, wait another week( that would allow for more time for hormones IF you are pregnant)and take another one if you really want. I missed the entire month of January( even my doc thought I could be pregnant because of timing, etc) but it turned out it was just stress and as of Feb it was all back to normal. What you can do is relax, get some exercise, warm baths can help relax the uterus and help bring it on if it's close to coming, even sex can sometimes cause it to come.

Good luck to you hun!

At your age it's not unusual to skip a period (or have a delayed period) even if you've had regular ones up until now.

If you're sexually active, there's always a chance you might be pregnant even if you've used contraception - but you already knew that. Take a second test 3 - 7 days after the first test.

If it's still negative after 3 weeks make a doctor appointment to reassure yourself.

Bear in mind that stress and worry can delay a period even further

If you were pregnant, you should have gotten a positive test by now, but on rare ocassions, it's not always the case. Take another one first thing in the morning in a couple days, if it's still negative then you may want to make a doctor appointment. There's many reasons why you could be late such as stress, a change in your normal schedule, you might be cycling w/ a friend that starts later, or weight gain or loss. Sometimes it just happens.

Im in the same situation as you.

I took a test when i was 1 week late, and it was negative.

But i now have quite a few symptoms, breast tenderness, headache, fatigue, ect.

A missed period could be from stress.

If you have any sympotoms of pregnancy, take another test in a few days, maybe a week.
