its the same as anything else that is physical. i don't date women who are taller than me or weigh more than me, i don't date women who don't shave their legs, armpits or pubic region (completely bald at that). you can say i am shallow, but so are you. you probably don't date guys who are more than a foot shorter than you, or who have thick long hair on their back. it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask your boyfriend who did grow hair on his back to shave it, the same for his balls or pubic region if you didn't like that. the fact that you would not conform to his desires of beauty says that there is something wrong with your personality, and perhaps that is why he left you.

Some people dont shave,wax,trim,e.t.c, down there because they are worried they might cut themselves or leave a rash,or they wouldnt know how to shape the hair,or take it all off,e.t.c,so find it easier to just leave it natural, and could feel embarassed about going to a beauty salon to have it done professionally coz a stranger would be looking at your bits !!..And,men have pubic hair,so why cant women have it aswell ?.Plus,if this guy cant accept you as you are,he's an idiot and he doesnt deserve to be with you.

if you find a boyfriend that does not want to see you with pubic hair then do as i do,

i shave my wife, she enjoys the feeling and i enjoy the pleasure after.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (7 February 2008):

Most women wouldn't date a man who never shaved his beard. It's arbitrary, but that's life. The social trend is clearly against pubic hair and it shows no sign of ever going back. So don't get in a huff about a guy being picky. If you really want him, you'd better keep that coochie smooth.

Well, from reading previous answers we don't see many males waxing their balls now do we? Practise what you preach lads. And leave our pubes alone. Keeps our bits warm like.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (8 January 2008):

I hate pubic hair on girls. It is one of my biggest turn-offs, and honestly, in this day and age, with all the products and options available, there is no reason for it.

Think about it this way: You shave your armpits, you shave your legs, but you're going to leave a nasty thatch of musky pubes on the most precious part of your body?

If you cannot shave it, then try creams or waxing... hell there's even permanent laser removal nowadays.

Personally, I do not even like a "landing strip" or anything at all. Perfectly smooth is the most asthetically pleasing to me.

If he broke up with you because of that, then he does'nt even diserve to BE down there in the first place!

You body is special to you, and boys should respect that.

But if you want to trim/shave/wave/remove it to feel more comfortable with your body, then do. But don't do it just because of some jerk.

I am shocked. You are 13-15 years of age and you have to worry about pubic hair? Boy, am I out of step with the times here. I hope you realize you are better off without a arrogant little 'twerp' like this in your life, hun. Is this just a coincidence but it does seem odd that almost all of the women in mainstream porn have little or no pubic hair, doesn't it? Did this guy like surfing the net, overly much. Hard to say but it makes me sure wonder. So what did you learn from this? Don't change who you are or put yourself through discomfort for any one. There are a lot of nice guys out there who wouldn't care.

A female reader, AngelofLove United Kingdom +, writes (9 January 2007):

AngelofLove agony auntPubic hair is sign of maturity, clearly what this guy was afraid of. What an idiot he is!

So immature he didn't even have the balls to tell you the real reason for breaking up with you.

To make pubic hair more atractive you could keep it tidy and there are several methods to trim it.

You could try wax but this may be painful.

My favorite method is Hair removal cream. No pain, effective, leaves skin smooth and you can trim as little as you want. Only takes about 10 minutes too. Always read the instructions though.

I would not recommend shaving as it would cause a rash and spots.

Hope it helps, lots of hugs

A female reader, CarrieMagdelene United States +, writes (8 January 2007):

CarrieMagdelene agony auntHey, what an interesting question! Most boys your age are TOTALLY immature...Pubic hair is a beautiful, natural, protective thing. My boyfriend does not like it at all, so I shave it. Do NOT use hair-removal creams like Nair around your pubic region because you can get nasty burns, an itchy vagina, and you can get an infection (usually yeast), and it will give you a strange odor because the acidity of the vagina has been changed. When using Nair wax, follow the directions EXACTLY as you read them. If you chose to shave (my choice), then it may be hard to decide what is right. Make sure your skin is warm and wet from the shower, and use a high-quality shaving cream (the ones for guys work best, actually). Use a fresh razor, and use it no more than 4 times. Venus works best. Do not use a razor with only one blade on it. Go for two to four blades. Pull your skin by placing a hand below your belly button firmly, and move your hand upwards towards your chest slightly, so that your skin is taught where it is going to be shaved. I shave in a downwards motion so that I do not get razor burn due to my sensitive skin. To do the place inbetween your legs, you may want to sit on a towel on the toilet and bring you leg up on the counter, so that you're kind of spread-eagle and can shave with ease. You don't have to pull the skin here, but if it's more comfortable, go ahead. :) If you have hair in between your booty and your vagina, LEAVE IT ALONE! This is the most important body hair of all, believe me! This area is called the pernineal, and the hair on it makes sure that unwanted bacteria that naturally occur down there do not come incontact with your vagina. This is why girls are told to wipe 'from behind', starting at the crotch-region and going back to your booty. Not to mention this is uncomfortable to grow back in. :( Also remember that to keep ingrown hair at bay, very GENTLY exfoliate the area every time you take a shower, and only shave every other day...And not on the same day you will be bearing all. Enjoy life! -Carrie

Most guys do not like excessive public hair.

Excessive is defined by the overall length and the range. Down the inner thigh is never good. Length varries. I think trimming to an half inch is acceptable.

I hope this is a serious question... Giving the BotD, no, not all guys hate pubic hair. That would simply be ridiculous. Plus, you're pretty young. I mean, you shouldn't feel low in confidence - supposedly, there is nothing wrong with you. If some guy bases his 'love' on pubic hair, earrings, and dying hair colour, for Heaven sakes, you would be better off without him!

A female reader, Reebe United Kingdom +, writes (8 January 2007):

Reebe agony auntMaybe he had never seen anyone with pubic hair before? It is natural and normal and there for a reason. If you feel you have more pubic hair than you'd like, either trim it with scissors (be careful!) or get some hair removal cream, read the instuctions first, make sure you do a spot test, leave someone your skin and wash off after the recommended time just to make sure you don't have a reaction. Your skin may not like it at first but it will get used to it.

You met the wrong guy, as long as it's neat most guys don't care about pubic hair after all they have it too!

Good Luck!
