The reason I ask is because if true then... ;-). But anyone I've ever actually mentioned it to said that girls don't actually do that... Just wondered what the truth of it was. All comments appreciated. Thanks have a great day :-) Reply to this Question Share |

I wear skirts and dresses almost all of the time. I wear pantyhose just about every day, or heavier tights on really cold winter days. I never really wear stockings and garters, too much trouble, more uncomfortible, and I am always concerned that the tops of the stockings will show. Pantyhose go all the way up to your waist so everything is covered if you skirt rides up a bit.

stockings: two pieces one for each leg held up by garter belts or girdles or maybe sticky stuff on the thighs. used only for spectacular sexy dress up or role play in our house...
pantyhose... thin nylon stockings with a panty attached worn with or without underwear under anything... worn with dressy dresses on work days or regular occasions.
tights... thicker knits worn in the winter... either flat weave or cable or other patterns... more like knitted sweaters... would not wear without a dress or pants over (in very cold weather as a layer)
leggings... closer to pants... would wear with a top that did not cover my crotch or butt.

Read some of the other answers... I guess what I mean by stockings is what the others mean by "tights". But when I say thights I mean a much thicker, closer to pants-like, type of undergarment (without feet).
This again comes from it being cold here. Our undergarments come in so many different varieties. Here's what I mean by these two words anyhow...

Stockings? Like on TV? I'm not sure what you mean actually. But in the general meaning of the word stockings: yes, I do wear them. I wear thick woolen stockings in winter-time, underneath my clothes. And, some times in summer too, but I live above the polar circle. It's cold here.
I wear nylon stockings when I have a pretty dress on. Or when I wear short pants, but don't want to be barefoot in my shoes (nylon stockings prevent the shoes from rubbing and making your feet hurt...).
Here in Norway it's been a real fad lately to wear thick stockings underneath jeans hot-pants. Just because, like I said before, it's cold here. It's got a cool look to it as well.
But I'm not sure if this is what you mean.

Tights,in general though, usually thicker black ones or lacey type with dresses. Its all down to being comfortable or warm really.

panty hose with skirts and dresses in the winter
trouser socks with slacks
socks with jeans
stockings... with a garter belt etc... for the bedroom only.

I wear net stockings or decorative stockings with dress pants slacks because with my shoes it looks nice to see the pattern of the net or designer stockings I do so if it cold too. I also do tights all year round with ling shirts skirts and under pants when cold.

Do you mean stockings like with a garter belt and all ?....
Naaah. Under trousers or jeans, and maybe with work boots or snow boots on in winter, that would be positively ridiculous.
With skirts, well, I suppose that if one is very fashion conscious and detail oriented, with a 50's look, " little black dress " or pencil skirt with high heels, stockings should be the most appropriate choice , but I 've never really met anybody who would bother . Maybe once in a blue moon, for a New Year's Eve party, like, if you want to play vamp, sort of tongue in cheek...
I wonder what kind of movies are you watching :) - stockings have disappeared as a regular, mainstream women's clothing item since , what, the mid 60's ? and I am sure that most movie directors have been taking this into account , in dressing up their characters...

I only wear stockings if I dress up for a social function or for a date-night (because hubby loves them) I NEVER wear tights EVER.
Like Person12345 says stocking are much easier when you wear skirts/dress, also if you have a "run" or snag in a leg you only have to replace one leg not toss the whole tights.
But in general, day to day, no I don't wear any of them.

No one (well, almost no one) wears stockings or leggings under pants unless it's cold out, or to my knowledge ever have commonly. The only reason people used to do that with socks is because socks didn't used to stay up without garters. Women don't wear stockings under their normal clothes, like with pants, except in porn maybe?Do you mean under skirts and dresses? Tights are more common than stockings, and stay up stockings are more common than garters and stockings. I wear stockings sometimes with work skirts because I find them more comfortable than tights. Also easier to pee in since you don't have to get partially undressed (how's that for taking the sex appeal out of them?).
