This event requires some volunteers who will then stand in line while people place bids to go on a date with them, with the funds going to charity. I thought it would be fun so I put my name down! Now I'm just a little nervous. I want to make myself appear as appealing as possible, and above all else I don't want to make a fool of myself.Has anybody ever seen this type of thing done before? How did the contestants behave? Is there anything I can do to make an extra effort with this. Although keep in mind that I don't want to come across as desperate! Is volunteering such a good idea? Please offer me any advice you can!

Hey, you did something you never did before, and you got through it successfully! And you made money for charity! And you met a nice lesbian who must think you're cute! :) Maybe she has some nice straight friends :D

Andy00 is verified as being by the original poster of the questionWell, I was only bid for £12 which is pretty pathetic. Worse yet, the girl who bought me has a GIRLFRIEND.
If I hadn't gotten a phone number from one of the female contestants tonight would have been considered a bit of a waste from my perspective. Still, £12 for comic relief and all I had to do was stand on a stage for five minutes. Would have wanted to raise more... or atleast get to go on a date with somebody single, and preferably straight!

I haven't been to an ordinary one, but I attended one at a convention, and it was great fun!
Definitely dress up! Wear something revealing, but put your personality out there. Don't be afraid to ham it up a little.
After all, you're doing this for a good cause, and everyone knows it. Everyone will be there to have fun, so the more fun you give them, the better it will go.
Good luck!

I find that if I am scared that people are going to think I'm silly, then I'll ACT extra silly and then they are laughing with me, not at me.
Go along in a fireman's outfit, or some of those Borat style Mankini pants.
It's going to be a great laugh as that is kind of the point of comic relief. So do something funny. Besides, when you go on the actual date, she'll get to see the real you and you'll be amazed how many girls are impressed by a guy that can make them laugh.
Good Luck!! xx
