I then went back to my peircer and he put a shorter bar in it. anyway, recently, it has got really red. top and bottom hole. also, it stings. however, its not pussing. it looks slightly swollen and shiney. also the holes are getting closer but the skin between them look ok jus a little red. is this a sign of rejection? i hope not cos ive already had 1 rejection before. thanks guys. Its an infection honey you need to bathe it in warm salt water to help clear it up and go back to your piercer to see if he can reccomend anything that can help.

Hey there,
Go to a piercing place (best if it's the one where you got it pierced) and ask them what's going on. It sounds like it's infected, and they should be able to give you something to take care of it.

It's not a sign of rejection; it's a sign of infection. Make sure that the piercing is made of surgical steel. Rotate it a quarter turn everyday and use an antibacterial or antibiotic cream. If it gets worse or if you run a fever, see your doctor. Don't use any piercings that contain nickel. My daughter had her belly-button pierced and it also got infected in the beginning. She has had it in now for 6 years and it's fine.

reader, anonymous, writes (16 November 2007): same thing happened to me it is infected what you need to do is get carex antibacterial soap and wash it 3 times a day and also get the bigger bar put back in as this will give it room to swell and then heal mine has been fine now for 3 years :) hope i helped xx
