I've put on a bit of weight in the last couple of years and there are pictures of how much i've changed. I can't help but think I look disgusting compared to everyone else (not just in weight but in general) and as i'm trying to change my image it's a constant reminder. I want to just not care but i can't stop it from bothering me.Does anyone have any advice? Thanks Reply to this Question Share |

There are books about self esteem, courses and information on the internet. Maybe you could work on both.
Not sure if it's still on TV, but there was a programme about people being overconcerned with their looks and matched with people who thought themselves ugly, or had deformities etc. It was very interesting and you might like it. Was on one of channels 1-5.

Sometimes a visual of ourself is just what we need to wake us up. Use the picture as a motivator to get yourself in shape and change what you're unhappy about. We always seem to see the bad in our appearance and then the good. Our minds are complex and sometimes it can even distort images in our heads. In other words, you might not even have changed much but your visual tells you otherwise. It's somewhat like anorexia. This disorder distorts your visual image making you seem fat when in reality you're skinny. I believe everyone's vision can at one time be exaggerated when we constantly tell ourselves something about our appearance isn't good enough. I'm sure that your friends put up the pictures because they see the good in you. We all change and sometimes not for the better. You've just got to flaunt what you have or take some action and change yourself!

I'd take the fact that your friends put a pics of you in their front room as a good sign. They accept you no matter what you look like and aren't afraid to be seen with you by other people. If your feeling fat perhaps take up running, cycling or the gym.
