Hi, I am in desperate need or your assistance. My boyfriend of a year and a half has just dumped me a week ago. He tells me he loves me still and we will get back together, but it just doesnt seem likely. What can I do to get him back A.S.A.P! I love Travis so much and I can't seem to get him to listen. Can you help me?

Thanks

Saying you will get back together is like saying "wait right here while go do a bunch of crazy shit without you, and if your still here when I get back....than great....but ill always do this to you becaue then I know I can"

Just think about improving yourself, and your life. Read, make music, make yourself everthing you want to be. There isnt anyone holding yourself back right now baby, but you.

move ahead. move on.

There are 6 billion people in the world. over 3 billion of them are men. And what are the odds that there are at least a few HUNDRED THOUSAND that would treat you like the beautiful person you are? Pretty Fucking Good.

Well! and isn't it nice of him to let you know he'll be back? And what makes him think that he has the luxury of walking in and out of your life whenever he pleases? I mean, other than the fact that YOU LET HIM!!! If he cannot explain, to your satisfaction, what this move is all about, I would be VERY careful about taking him back. This could turn out to be a game that you might not want to play!!!

A female reader, Bev Conolly Australia +, writes (24 May 2005):

Bev Conolly agony auntBad news, I'm afraid. You can never "get [someone] back". They either come to you of their own free will, or not at all. There is nothing you can do to "make" someone love you.

Think of this analogy: Sometimes, with a lot oftime, care and affection, you can train a bird to come and sit on your hand. But if the bird doesn't want to, you can't force it down from the trees by stamping your feet and crying and moaning and swearing to love it forever and promising to change your ways. It either wants to be with you, or it doesn't and all the sand in the desert won't make it come to you.

Travis is that bird. He'll come back to you when he's ready to, or he won't. Either way, you will then be in a position to choose whether to take him back. That's the unfortunate truth about romantic relationships; sometimes your timetables don't match and things don't work out.

My advice is to assume that you won't get back together with Travis and move on with your life. No matter how much it hurts to have your love rejected, you won't die without him. Seriously.

He's said he loves you and that you'll get back together, so perhaps you will. But it's more likely that he's trying not to hurt you too much and so mouthing pleasant white lies. So unless he's given you a time-frame of when he expects to be back, I'd assume that this is the new reality.

Chin up. There are a lot of other guys in the world.
