 I would suggest buying a silicone real life sized penis and use that on yourself w/ lots of lube. Since you've done it before and you enjoy it, you can get yourself 'used to it' again by practicing on yourself by yourself.
When you are having anal sex on a regular basis (or pleasuring yourself regularly that way) it makes it much easier each time.
You MUST be relaxed, use lots of lube and take it slow. Good luck!

 What position did you use? My only suggestion is to relax, go slow, and use plenty of lube. And have the patience to try again if it hurts too much. I have learned that stopping and trying again sometimes makes a world of difference. Trust me, once you get past the initial discomfort, it is awesome!!!
