A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I just had sex for the first time last night with my boyfriend. It was great everything was perfect, I must admit I was really nervous and scared but once it happened I calmed down.from what I've heard I always believed that when you have sex for the first time its supposed to be this huge deal and everything, and some people have even cried after it. After we were done I didn't feel any different, it didn't even feel like a big deal even though it was, is that normal? Or what? Also I have another question, everyone says it hurts really bad for a girl but for me it didn't, and I wouldnt call myself very loose my boyfriend is the only person I have ever done sexual things with, is that okay that it didn't hurt? Or is there something wrong?

PixiePie agony auntStop worrying, its wonderful to hear of someone enjoying their first time. For those of us who gave it away too soon or had it taken from us its a regret we can never take back. You can look back on this now and be happy that you have a good experience to remember.

I'm very happy for you

My first time I didn't bleed (guess that means my hymen broke off from a tampon or something) and it wasn't particularly painful either, so everyone experience it differently. A friend of mine had a great first time with no pain and just pleasure, another friend of mine had serious belly aches for days after her first time.

How you value the first time is also up to you as a person and I suppose the circumstances. For me it wasn't special, but now that I am older I value sex much more than I did when I was younger. For me it is now a special and intimate act I will only do with someone I care about. Before I didn't care at all who I had sex with.

janniepeg agony auntMaybe your hymen was already broken when you were doing tough sports or something. Maybe you were really turned on and wet enough so it didn't hurt too bad. There is a wide range of first sex experiences and I would say you are very lucky. First sex and losing virginity have been overrated.
