A female reader, ihavetoomanythoughts Australia +, writes (19 February 2013):

ihavetoomanythoughts agony auntIt's quite common not to have a hymen. It can break as a result of a lot of things e.g. bike riding, running, jumping, inserting rigid objects or fingers in there. No need to worry ;)

I never had any pain or bleeding either, even when I had sex for the first time. I don't remember finding any blood when I was younger either (they say your hymen can break when you play sports etc) but I suppose it might have and I was too young to remember. Either that or I just didn't have one?! I wouldn't worry, it never did me any harm :)
