writes: Hi everyone, I need advice please.I'm 18 and I lost my virginity to my boyfriend about 2 months ago. Very soon after, I went for my first visit to the gynecologist. My tests turned out fine and I was put on birth control.I have had quite a few side effects from the birth control, but it could just be my body adjusting. Last week, I spotted for about a day, then it went away.Yesterday me and my boyfriend had sex and while it was very good, it was also very rough. When I went to the bathroom, I noticed I was bleeding. I thought "Oh, I'm spotting again." Although the blood was very different. (Sorry for the details, but spotting was brownish, and this was... well, blood.)I thought it would go away like the last time, but now I woke up and when I went to pee, I'm bleeding and also when I wipe myself. My period is not supposed to come til next week on the pills so I don't think this is it.What's going on? Is this spotting, or was something hurt during sex? I'm starting to worry!

If it keeps happening, _go to the doctor_. People on the internet are not a good substitute for getting it checked out by a medical professional.

I went through the same thing - it takes a couple months for your body to get accustomed to the pills. One time I was having two spotting sessions in one month and this was after 3 months (the amount of time you're told that if things don't get better, to talk to your doctor, cause your body should be used to the pills by then) and she put me on a stronger dosage and I've been fine ever since. Just give it some times; it should go away on its own.

The pill does the same thing to me, I start spotting, and sometimes will bleed for a day or two, before I am supposed to have a period (sometimes as early as two weeks before). Your body is probably just adjusting to the medication. If this persists, go back to the gynecologist. You may be able to find a different pill that works better for you. But, its not likely anything serious. Good luck.
