Is this normal for a two-week old baby?

A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

i have a two week old little girl, and she sleeps all the time, she sleeps most of the night and most of the day and never really wakes up for her bottle we have to wake her up normally ,

she will drink her bottle, have her nappy changed and then fall asleep again lol she just doesnt seem to wake up for long

is this normal or should i b worried

any advice ??

if she is feeding well and putting out enough wet nappies and poop then she's probably fine...

but consult your pediatrician as that's what they are for.

Enjoy it while you can...lol! This is very normal for newborns. I own a daycare center with over 100 children & I have a 2 yr. Old & 3yr. Old. Trust me....she will need less sleep the older she gets...& you will need more sleep! Congradulations on your daughter...

just be greatful you have been blessed with the perfect baby how i would have loved to have had one like yours my 4 children were awake and crying all the time thank godness my husband was very helpful

C. Grant agony auntSome babies are like that. Has the public health nurse been around to see you yet? Or do you have an appointment with your family doctor in the near future? If you're a new parent it can be very reassuring to have a professional check things out. She should start to get a bit more active soon -- if not, have her checked out. But as long as she's eating well and pooping well, she's probably fine.
