writes:Hello all,I went on the pill three days after my period started and was told that this would make it work straight away. I was also told to use condoms for at least 7 days, just in case. I waited 8 days after going on the pill and me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex. I thought I was being sensible but now I'm all worried that I should have waited a bit longer for the pill to kick in. Is there a chance I could be pregnant? I'm very nervous!Thankyou,x

reader, anonymous, writes (19 August 2007): Well i think you should use a condum even if on the pill to not get std's and stuff like that i know its hard not to think well am i pregnt or not kidna thing but try not think of it so much of that because u could miss a period or be late on it. Just plz be very carefull about them things.I been ont he pill for about 5 years now and i have a boyfriend but me and him still have to be carfull about all them things.

 Just relax :) im 8 months pregnant i was on the pill, but it works very well... i just didnt take it properly, try not to have unprotected sex because it can lead to std's aswel as pregnancy, just wait for your period, if you have it but aare still worried then take a test, you can buy one from your local drug store or just a super market but am sure everything will be fine :) good luck and keep us posted

 The first three months that I was on the pill, I would always get obsessive about being sure I was pregnant. I'd get nausea and stuff, too! Luckily I didnt tell my boyfriend, I just waited for my period. It did come! So you know what? You just never know. I just relax now, and figure that if my period doesn't come, then I'll worry.

As long as you didnt have unprotected sex within the first 7 days you will be fine. As soon as you have taken 7 tablets it works fully.
You should still use a condom though unless you have both been tested for STD's and are sure that your relationship is totally monogamus

I havent heard anything like that before, but yeah if your doctor said that then you should be safe.
I know that my doctor told me that it can take 7 days before it protects you, however they recomend you wait till atleast 14 days just to be on the safe side. So I would say yeh there isa chance you could be pregnant if you didnt use a condom.
Best thing to do darling is to go get a pregnancy test or go see your doctor to put your mind at rest!

 Hi there,
i am also on the pill and as long as you waited over the 7 days there should be no problem because the pill starts working strait away also for future reference
make sure that before your period you dont miss any pills if on the off chance you do take precaution while you are on your period and make sure you start your next pack strait away after your pill free week and you will be fine
there is a very low chance that you could be pregnant

You shouldn't be if they were the instructions on the box, I find the pill works very well at keeping me pregnancy free, If you're that worried use the pill and condoms in the future!

depends on which pill youre on.. i was told that ure ment to start the pill on the first day of youre period not the third and yes wait atleast a week if not two and use condoms till then..if youre worried go see youre gp and ask him/her about it taking a pregnacie test through them is free and more accurate than ones in the shops..i was very worried when i went on the pill for the first time so i changed to the rod lasts for 5 years and has worked brilliantly a few friends are on it too and think its great hope this helps xxxx
