It really will be impossible for you to be together if he's on hour away and you can never see him. LDR's can sometimes work, but very rarely because both people have to be committed and able to see each other when they can. In this case, I don't think it will work because you can't really see each other to talk, or to just hang out. It might be better to move on. Good luck
