Harrassment from my boss... what do I do?

Question - (1 November 2009) 2 Answers - (Newest, 1 November 2009)
A female Ireland, anonymous writes:

I am 18 years old and i work in a pub, in september a new owner took over the pub and kept me on as staff. The new owner is 40 years old, has 4 children by 3 different women considerably younger than him, he is currently dating a 19 year old who just gave birth to his child, whom i get on with well.

When he is in the pub amongst men he slags off his girlfriend, considering the fact that he is my boss i have not told her this.

As of late he has become flirty and keeps "bumping" into me behind the bar, i am not sure whether or not he is joking in the things that he says to me, as he knows my step dad, or being serious to see how i react. He is also not the kind of person who will take kindly to me saying please stop touching me as he is very sarcastic, what do i do?

A reader, anonymous, writes (1 November 2009):

I agree it is against the law to harass someone in the workplace. Start documenting the things he is doing and saying to include the date and time. Then contact the Department Of Human Right and file a complaint. I agree I would look for a new job.

You tell him not to do it, and failing that, quite your job and get a better one. This guy is a slimeball and is after using you. Don't be around him. Also, you could even speak to a solicitor and see about taking him to court. Well done for not taking it.
