I agree with your friends ... just be friendly when i meet her again and make sure I end the conversation first - Act normal, happy, unfazed and continue like this for a while.
And once you've continued like this her body language should tell all.
No man was ever mean't to understand us girls like no woman was ever mean't to understand you men just take things day by day as maybe the rush of it before was what scared her off.

No you haven't blown it. I think you should act non chalant like your buddies say for a while and see where that takes you. She might understand that you were nervous at first. Just be friendly. Be into her but not TOO into her. If you seem more friendly than romantic she might get more comfortable with you. It's odd how some girls want guys to be straight forward like you and how some don't like that, like her. I guess we are as complicated as boys say we are. =) Well good luck.
