writes: Okay this may sound paranoid but, It has almost been a year since me and girlfriend have been together and too mark the occasion we have both decided too buy each other something that we can wear / keep.While I was unsure what too buy her she kept saying 'You could buy me a ring' and she would laff after she said it. I decided too ask her mum what she thought I should get her and she text me saying 'You could get her jewelry, ear rings, necklace etc. Or you could get her a ring.And since then I've kind of been thinking that her mum wants me too get her an engagement ring or somthing its almost as if shes hinting at it. I dunno if im being paranoid though.Sounds bizarre I know but responses would eb appreciated PS - im 17 my girlfriends 16

 Heya when I originally read your message I was going to reply that if you and her daughter are very happy then yeah her mum could've well been hinting that you get an engagement ring... mum's in law can be like that! ;-) hehehe.... then I would've said that maybe your girlfriend does want a ring but she wants you to think that you choose to get it rather than her putting the idea into your head... Bu the way that's not an engagment ing it's just a stadard retty ring..
Then I saw how old you two guys are and to tell you the truth I couldn't imagine her mum wanting her to get engaged or married at this age...... I still stand by what I said about your girlfriend she wants you to buy her a ring but NOT an engagement ring just a pretty ring that she can google at on her fingers... and you know what she has told her mum what she wants that is why her mum dropped the hint.
So to wrap up I don't think she wants to marry you just yet but she has told her mum she wants you to buy her a ring. So both her mum and her are dropping the hints.... So guess you better buy your girl a nice little ring (but not an engagement ring!!!!)

 It does sound like she wants a ring. At your age I doubt an engagement ring, maybe a promise ring if you need to put a meaning behind a piece of jewelery.
