Is my self medical abortion unsuccessful?

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Dear cupids, Help!!!. I recently had a strip test and found a slight second red line. By my calculation, I was 32 days pregnant. So I used the misoprostol alone procedure to terminate it for I have been taught on how to take the medicine in a two days family planning forum a year ago. I am not married and I haven't told anyone about it. I experienced cramping and fever overnight and by morning, there was a gush of blood with 2 big clots. Later in the day, I dischaarged an oval egg (hard clot) but since then, blood had stopped. I don't know if I have a continuing pregnancy for I was taught that bleeding lasts at least a week.

Take another pregnancy test and see the doctor regardless of the result, im assuming you have no medical training what so ever, learning how to do something like that on a website is rediculous, really speaking you have no idea what you could be doing to your body.I think your very silly.

Ok. I will definitely visit the doctor. And very happy to hear about the "heavy bleeding and cramping shouldn't last more than 1-2 days." I was so scared and worried. Thanks for the encouragement. God bless you all

person12345 agony auntWhen I looked on the International Women's Health Coalition website they say that heavy bleeding and cramping shouldn't last more than 1-2 days. Misoprostol is used in countries with restrictive abortion laws to help women who need abortions. The UK is not one of those countries, you need to see a doctor to make sure everything is out or you risk an infection. The only reason a woman wouldn't see a doctor is if she'd go to jail for having had an abortion. There is zero harm to just going and having an exam and being sure it's all out. You should have gone and gotten the actual abortion drug or a D&C abortion. By law they cannot tell your family or partner that you are pregnant, having an abortion, or even that you visited the clinic, but they will be able to monitor you, check up (if you give them permission), and give you the follow-ups that you need to make sure everything is OK.

For now you should go get an exam done.

According to some information I've read there was a second medication you should have taken BEFORE the misoprosol.

Take another pregnancy test.

See a doctor.

Yes, I know its a shock but you have to be sensible, please go to a doctor and explain what happened and get looked after. Dont be shy or embaressed, doctors deal with all kinds of stuff that people do, thats their job! And talk about birth control and how to look after yourself.

Honeypie agony auntI agree with K_c100 you NEED to go see a doctor. No one here have any idea how safe that procedure is, most pills are the Plan B which NEEDS to be taken 72 hours at the latest after sex, to avoid implantation.

32 DAYS is late to try and use those.

See your doctor. Get a blood-test done to see if you are pregnant, they are by far more accurate.

And if you are, HAVE a proper doctor supervised abortion not a forum induced one.

k_c100 agony auntSee your doctor. You should not be doing things like this alone, you need a qualified medical professional to do things like this.

We cannot tell you if you are pregnant or not, see your doctor as soon as you can to make sure you havent done any damage to yourself with your DIY abortion. Abortions are not trivial little things that you can do yourself, this is a big deal and you need medical help for this.
