I'm 13... I have been chatting to this guy I really like.

My friends think that he is completely wrong for me and has no feelings for me. But whenever we chat, we always say things lik "I luv u!" and "Hi hun" and when we chat on MSN we always send hearts and kisses to each other...

But I don't know if he means them or not... What should I do??

My friend had that problem. One day she said that she had this boyfriend but she never told anyone how she met him. I was really curious to met this new boyfriend of hers. But she said that he was away and she could only talk to him through MSN, that was a lie because she didn't want people to know she met him on the internet because people would call him a paedophile. He kept on saying "Hi hun" and "I love you, you sexy thing" So the next day he asked to meet her. I really didn't trust him. So I went with her just incase anything went wrong. When we met him, he was an old man in his 30s, fat and really unnatractive. So now me and all of my friends and everyone else I've told this story to have always been more careful with internet relationships. There are lots of really dirty and sick people out there. Maybe he isn't but you must be careful and always tell someone if they make you feel uncomfortable or if they want to meet. Yuo can have fun on the internet but when people do stuff like that, it really makes me ill. Please be careful and I hope I've helped you.

He's not in love with you. He's in love with the illusion he's created in his own mind about your looks and personality.Your looks will be moulded to his own preferences and ideals and all that he's gleaned about your personality will be purely from whatever you've posted, which would,I presume,be all happy-go-lucky stuff.

What do you know about this guy?I don't think I need to warn you about the dangers of 'internet dating'.This person could in fact be nothing like what he's said he is.One thing is for sure, you don't love each other. The thing with love is that you don't actually love the PERSON,you fall in love with the FEELINGS that you get whenever you're around them. That's why you miss them when they're away from you, cause you're not getting those 'vibes' from them.Of course, you also can love things ABOUT them, but in your case, you don't really know anything for sure, only what he's told you.Never believe everything you read.

With the internet you cant see the persons expressions when they say things to you or the way they say it to you....to be honest there can be some genuine people online but there can also be some people that aint and that are portraying to be something they are not....be careful you are only 13 youve got along way to go before you need to think about boys and im sure the internet is not the best way to go about it.

You're still very young and new to romance, please be very careful in chatting with strangers. In fact, I strongly urge you to stop or at least be very cautious. I'm sure it feels very exciting to elicit love notes from someone for the first time, but the internet creates a convenient disguise that you can’t easily see through. Online personalities are often very, very different from their true personalities.

Trust your friends, since they care about you and just want to protect you. Just treat this person as a casual friend, and nothing more. Don’t rush into romance! You will meet the right guy someday, but please take your time to really get to know people as friends first among the safety of your trusted friends.

Very importantly, never never meet any online stranger outside of your home by yourself!!! That could be very dangerous. That aside, have fun, but play safe! Stay close to your friends.
