I really really like him and his exact words in his last email were:"Every time I read your plans I admire you more and more... You are so determined!! I really hope you will make it!! ;-)...and regarding your professor: hey it's like you in a year or two! ;-)"What does this means? Is he starting to like me? I don't know how to take this because we come from different cultures. Any advice from an Italian out there?

I am Italian. I can't vouch for this particularly countryman, but I would say that he is just being kind, expressing support and encouragement. Generally speaking, Italians aren't shy in courting girls , and aren't particularly reserved with their feelings , in fact rather effusive , if he'd like you romantically , he'd tell you. The problem is, he probably would tell you anyway, even if it's not true, lol, - Italians are big flirters, it's like a sport for us. So, I have no way to know it for sure, of course, but I think that if, in 6 months, that's the most personal and affectionate he got, he just sees you as a friend.

I think those are words of encouragement. It's not enough to know if he likes you.
As romantic as it may seem to have a boyfriend from Italy, it doesn't make a lot of logistical sense. You should let your friendship grow so when you go to Italy someday you have someone to go and see.
